Large towns, small towns and villages are strewn around Djursland. The best known are Ebeltoft and Grenaa.
|
Those are old towns. Ebeltoft was granted its municipal charter as early as 1301 - whereas the largest town in Djursland today, Grenaa, had to wait until 1445 for its charter. They are towns steeped in history, with interesting, old buildings - and today they are busy market towns with a large and varied selection of all kinds of goods.
However, those are not the only towns to be reckoned with: Rønde, Kolind, Auning, Hornslet, Ryomgård, Vivild, Allingåbro and Ørsted do not only have large supermarkets but also a number of specialist shops. The last three towns in the list are close to the north coast and the sea. If you travel east from there, you cannot miss Gjerrild, Glesborg, Fjellerup and Bønnerup. You will not often make a wasted trip - and you will never make a wasted trip if you have come for groceries.
