Fregatten Jylland
All that is missing is the sound of cannon and the reek of gunpowder. And the sea. The longest wooden ship in the world, Fregatten Jylland, lies firmly anchored in its dock beside the cove of Ebeltoft Vig. When you go on board, you will get an extremely good impression of life on board a large warship of the 19th century. The impressive rigging supported by the three masts towers high above Ebeltoft. The frigate had a crew of 430 men. The cabins and saloons are furnished as they were when the ship was built in 1860. The Battery deck, with its 30 can-non, also has 23 figures illustrating life onboard. A look at the bridge, the captain's day room, the lavatories and crew's quarters will convey what daily life was like for sailors on board. The Royal State Room on the frigate, used by the royal family during royal cruises, has also been restored in the style of the times. A walk around the dry dock provides visitors with a clear impression of the propeller and anchors of the frigate and of how large the world's longest wooden ship actually is. Fregatten Jylland is open all year round.
